Welcome to the City of Trails Run

St. Croix Falls is the “City of Trails” for good reason. Miles of city-limit trails wind through this ancient, glaciated valley via the Ice Age National Scenic Trail segments and alongside the St. Croix National Scenic Riverway. Take the opportunity to celebrate Wisconsin’s State trail celebration day, health, wellness, and physical activity with FIVE great running/hiking events on trails. There’s an enjoyable racing experience for any level or runner or trail enthusiast!

6:00 am – 8:30 am: Race Day Registration and Bib/Chip Pick-up at the St. Croix Falls Snap Fitness
6:30 am: Full Marathon Start at Snap Fitness
7:30 am: Half-Marathon Start
8:00 am: 1K Kids Trail Run Start, Registration Closes
8:30 am: 5K & 10K Trail Run (simultaneous start)
10:15 am – 1:00 pm: Finish Line Festivities at Snap Fitness and TBA. 
10:30 am: Little Hiker Hustle at Snap Fitness by Finish line
10:45 am:  5K and 10K Awards Ceremony    Full marathon Awards will start around 11:00 am

Pre-Registration and/or Pick Up: June 4th, 2021 

5:00 pm-7:00 pm at Snap Fitness St. Croix Falls.  Otherwise packets can be picked up the morning of the race as in past years.

Course: Full Marathon

Course Summary: Tough and Gorgeous. You won’t regret taking on these 26.2 gorgeous miles of St. Croix Valley. Just about 3 miles of asphalt is all that interrupts the amazing and rugged Ice Age Trail and Gandy Dancer Trail sampler. There will be rocks, down trees, dirt, water ways, etc. This is not a “walk in the park”, please be prepared for semi-rugged conditions.

Attention Hikers! No soft starts. Please e-mail admin team if questions.

Course Conditions:

  •  Rugged hiking trail terrain- each year slightly different trail conditions given spring season weather. Rocks, tree roots, potential mud, drastic elevation changes, and beauty!

Course: Half Marathon

Course: 10K Trail Run

Attention Hikers! The 10K Trail Run is open to hikers. Hiker Soft Start is at 8:30am on race day. Get a head start and allow a timely finish to enjoy refreshments, live music and other post-race activities–at a pace that allows smelling the flowers.

Course Conditions

  • Dirt single track or grassy paths with occasional rugged rock outcrops on Ice Age Trail segments.
  • Picturesque forest and river valley views.
  • A few gradual uphills, predominantly downhill or flat as course heads toward the river
  • Approximately 1 kilometer of asphalt street to connect paths
  • Ice Trail Segments are clearly marked with the characteristic yellow blaze, a rectangle shaped piece of plastic attached at eye-level to trees. Where no trees are convenient to mark the path, a white paint blaze may be found on rocks or a rock cairn set up to mark the way.
  • Trail is not suitable for strollers or baby joggers.

Course Conditions:

  • Start of 5k at St. Croix Falls Middle School
  • Lightly uphill at the beginning on asphalt bike trail.
  • Downhill coast toward downtown on city streets.
  • Flat, fast finish on asphalt trail along the scenic St. Croix River.
  • Stroller friendly.

Course: Baby Mammoth Kids 1K Trail Run
Location Start: Snap Fitness
Race Start Time: 8:00am

Course Summary: Run like a deer through the woods in this quick and exciting traipse.  An excellent way to start a trail running career!

Course Conditions:

  • Dirt paths and grassy field on 99% of route

Other Info: 

  • Ages 5-12
  • All trail runners receive a Trail Run T-shirt
  • Overall Male and Female Winners receive Baby Mammoth Prize
  • Parents welcome to run with child, no extra fee or registration necessary

LITTLE HIKER HUSTLE! 

Lil’ Hiker Hustle: Open to 2-5 year olds. Each participant will receive a participation memorabilia. 2-5 year olds race is just for fun:  no registration or fee necessary. Race begins approximately 10:15 am, following finish of the 5 & 10K.  Exclusive Lil’ Hiker Award Ceremony immediately after race.

Prizes:

  • Overall male and female winners receive trophies created by local potter Leif Bjornson
    • 5K/10K–handmade ceramic stein
    • Half Marathon—handmade ceramic plate
    • Full Marathon- handmade viking goblet
  • Each first time Full and Half Marathon participant receives a custom City of Trail finisher medal. Every year after your initial race withus you will receive a year embellished emblem with the year and race noted. This emblem will be able to be slipped onto the lanyard from your finisher medal you initially received. Make sure you keep your finisher medal for this purpose. 
  • Division prizes awarded to the top two finishers in each division for the 5K, 10K, Half, and Full Marathon
  • All race participants receives a high-quality performance t-shirt- Must register by May 12th each year, as that is the cut off date to ensure a t-shirt.
  • All race participants receive a swag bag that has their BIB # on it that can be utilized for bag drop at race start and will be brought to the finish line for pick up. Feel free to place any items you want in the bag for the finish line. *race is not responsible for lost or stolen bag items but work hard to make sure this does not occur.

SPECIAL DISCOUNTS AVAILABLE for Families and Youth Race Teams

  • Family Discount (3+ members required) = $10 off of each registration (Works for any race. Family members can run in different races too!)
  • Youth Race Team = Flat $5 off per runner for any race (All runners must run the same race and must be 18 years or younger! Also must provide team you run for)
  • Veteran Discount= Flat $15 per runner for any veteran.
